Events and Activities

On July 11 and 12, 2012  the working group convenors came together in the Arboretum to share the knowledge and insights they had gathered.

The goal of Day 1 was to have each working group tell the story of their experiences and report on their findings for the Catalyst Team and other convenors to hear, clarify, and reflect on.

The goal of Day 2 was to develop statements of general directions for a school for civil society. Convenors were tasked with one of four complex themes that arose from Day 1 discussions and asked to conceptualize possible models of a school for civil society around those themes.

The working groups are at various stages in the convening process.  Several final reports have been completed and more information will be added as convenors move through the process.  Final reports, presentation slides, and meeting notes are available on the left side-bar (or you can click the links below).

  • Broaden and deepen our and thinking on the meaning of civil society
  • Explore the linkages between the universities and civil society sectors
  • Engage university and civil society constituents in a process of imagining how the University of Guelph can move in a direction of greater engagement
